RACE DAY INFORMATION

Welcome and thank you for joining Forrest Stump’s #WeJustFeltLikeRunning virtual race for disability rights! Together on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 we are setting out to complete 2,758 virtual miles (the distance from Seattle, WA to Washington, D.C.) to deliver our signed petition to Congress for “The Rights of Americans With Disabilities To Exercise.”

This virtual race packet contains all of the information you need to participate on race day. Below, download and print your race bib, learn how to track your miles on race day, and find ways to help us advocate and raise awareness!

1. DOWNLOAD & PRINT RACE BIB

Race day wouldn’t be complete without an official #WeJustFeltLikeRunning race bib! Click the link below to download your race bib as a [PDFor [PNG] file. Print it out to wear on race day or keep it to commemorate your achievement. As a team, we will all proudly wear #2758 to represent the number of miles we will collectively complete on race day. No one person can do this alone; only together can we complete this mission.

2. TRACK YOUR MILES

You decide how, when, and where you will complete your miles.

You can run, walk, swim, handcycle, bike – or any other form of physical activity that can be recorded or logged in miles – at any time and any place on Saturday, October 3rd. Whether you are walking 1 mile or biking 100 miles, we encourage you to participate in a safe and socially responsible manner.

You must join our Strava Club to have your miles count on race day.

To track your miles and have them counted on race day, download the free Strava App on your smartphone or smartwatch and create a free Strava account. Search for the Forrest Stump: WeJustFeltLikeRunning” Strava Club under the “Explore” tab and request permission to join. Regardless of how you complete your miles, you will need to create a Strava account and request to join the Strava Club to have your miles counted on race day. We encourage you to use a GPS enabled device to record your miles. We will also accept manual activity uploads to the Strava club on the honor system.

Directly request to join our Strava Club here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/ForrestStump

RAISE AWARENESS

Exercise your body AND your voice on race day by joining #WeJustFeltLikeRunning’s fight for disability rights. Help us advocate for equal rights and raise awareness on behalf of the disability community by signing our petition to Congress, sharing posts on social media, and taking photos of yourself with campaign branding on race day!

SIGN THE PETITION

The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) established a right for people with disabilities to have the opportunity to participate in ALL facets of society. Yet, 30 years after this civil rights achievement legally ended much disability-based discrimination, people with disabilities – including children – continue to face insurmountable barriers to equal participation in exercise and athletics.

That’s why Forrest Stump has launched a petition to Congress and we need your support to make sure our voices are heard. Read our petition in full on Change.org, add your signature, then share it with your family and friends. Every signature matters!

I believe physical activity is a human right. But did you know that in the United States it’s considered a “luxury” for the disability community? Millions of Americans with disabilities are denied the right to exercise because most federal, state, and private health plans do not cover the assistive technologies and habilitation services needed for participation in sports and athletics. This is discrimination and it’s time for change!

That’s why I’ve joined Forrest Stump @runforreststump in their movement #WeJustFeltLikeRunning! I will be participating in their virtual race on Saturday, October 3rd for #disabilityrights. You can help by signing their petition, racing, or making a donation to this great organization.

THANK YOU RACERS!

Dear Racers,

On behalf of our entire team, thank you!

You are one of hundreds of racers and thousands of individuals across the country who believe the disability community should have equal rights and better access to physical activity. By using your voice and racing with us on October 3rd, you are helping us start a movement for change.

Our team is incredibly excited to race alongside you – virtually – on October 3rd, 2020. Together, we will complete 2,758 miles in one day – from Seattle, WA to Washington, D.C. – to deliver a signed petition to the doorsteps of Congress. No one person can do this alone; only together can we complete this mission.

If you haven’t already, please sign our petition and spread the word! We’d also love to see your photos from race day so we can compile and share these with members of Congress. Thank you for your help in making this campaign a success!

Let’s run,
